Sweet Potato Snacking

Homemade Sweet Potato Fries

When it comes to snacking, it is inevitable that most of us go for the easy targets – chips, crackers, and energy bars. But what if snacking can actually be healthy for you while being nutritious & filling?

For me, the best way to combat midday or late-night cravings has been with real food, and by real food, I mean… sweet potato fries!

… And not just any sweet potato fries;  homemade fries.

At first glance sweet potato fries are undoubtedly healthy; packed with a rich source of Vitamin A, B-Vitamins, nutrients and fiber, the key to supporting a strong immune system. Additionally, sweet potatoes are a great snack to have as they are known to help stabilize blood sugar and promote the overall feeling of satiety.

But all of these benefits can easily be overridden when drenched and fried in hydrogenated oils. Moreover, if you choose to go a different route by purchasing frozen “Organic” & “Non-GMO” sweet potato fries, you may be surprised to find out that you’re paying for more than you bargained for in the additive department.

Now.. if you’re like me, you may be asking yourself what is corn flour, glucono delta-lactone and xantham gum doing in my “healthy fries”?!

That just might be what that extra $2.30 is for.

Making homemade sweet potato fries not only takes less than 10 minutes of your time to prepare but also saves your body 8 nonsense ingredients it would otherwise have to consume.
